Experience Overview

Take off from the V&A Waterfront and experience the breathtaking coastal beauty of the Cape Peninsula from above. Four distinct scenic flight itineraries are available depending on your available time and preferred routing: 

1. 12 Apostles / Hopper Tour
   1. Flight Time: Approx. 12 minutes
   2. Scenic Highlights: Perfect if you are short on time. Sweeps past Green Point Stadium, offering magnificent aerial views of Robben Island, Table Mountain, the City Bowl, Peninsula beaches, and the Twelve Apostles mountain range.
      
2. Chapman's 'Peek' / Atlantico Tour
   1. Flight Time: Approx. 18 minutes
   2. Scenic Highlights: Soars past the City Bowl, Table Mountain, Twelve Apostles, Clifton, Camps Bay, and Hout Bay, providing a stunning aerial view of the famous Chapman’s Peak Drive.
      
3. Table Mountain 360° / Three Bays Tour
   1. Flight Time: Approx. 24 minutes
   2. Scenic Highlights: Showcases both the Atlantic and Southern sides of the Peninsula. Glides along Table Mountain, Twelve Apostles, Clifton, Camps Bay, and Llandudno before reaching Hout Bay to reveal the shimmering waters of the Southern Seaboard.
      
4. Cape Point Tour
   1. Flight Time: Approx. 42 minutes
   2. Scenic Highlights: The ultimate visual feast covering the entire Cape Peninsula. Fly over Table Mountain, Twelve Apostles, Clifton, Camps Bay, Hout Bay, and Noordhoek, culminating with dramatic circles around the cliffs of Cape Point itself.
      
5. Robben Island Tour
   1. Flight Time: Approx. 20 minutes
   2. Scenic Highlights: The Robben Island Scenic Flight explores an important part of South Africa’s history. Leave the V&A Waterfront, passing by Green Point and Cape Town cityscape, routing towards Robben Island for an aerial view of the buildings and prison where Nelson Mandela was incarcerated.
      Four-seater and six-seater helicopters are utilized for the Robben Island flights.
      Robben Island Flights are only done on a private bases (no sharing flights).

⚠️ Note: All flight paths and exact routings are weather-dependent and remain strictly at the pilot's final discretion. Scenic tours are based on specific routing and not on flying time as this can vary due to ever changing weather conditions and differentiating helicopter performance.

Critical Arrival & Logistical Instructions

• Arrival Notice: You are required to arrive at the helipad strictly 30 minutes prior to your scheduled slot. This buffer is essential to handle mandatory check-in steps, including completing indemnity waivers, conducting safety briefings, and allocating helicopters. For example, if your session is booked for 10:00 AM, you must be on-site and ready by 09:30 AM.
• Location Warning: You must go straight to the helipad. Do not go to Maitland / Cape Xtreme's offices. You will be at the wrong location and you will miss your booking/forfeit your booking entirely (no refund/reschedule).
• Time Slot Availability: Your selected time slot is a preference and is not guaranteed at the time of submission. Once we receive your request/booking, we will check availability and confirm your slot. We will either send over your official confirmation or immediately contact you with alternative times or dates if your preferred slot is not available.

Inclusions & Exclusions

• ✅ What’s Included: The scenic flight - Aerial tour along your chosen route (such as the 12 Apostles, Chapman’s Peak, Table Mountain 360°, Cape Point or Robben Island).
• ❎ What’s Excluded: Round-trip transport (hotel pickup & drop off), meals, snacks, refreshments, and all items of a personal nature. Extra costs if passenger body/luggage weight exceeds standard aircraft limitations requiring a larger helicopter.

Passenger Restrictions, Conduct & Aircraft Mechanics

1. Weight & Balance Requirements (Mandatory)
   1. Pre-Flight Weigh-In: By law, an accurate weight and balance calculation must be completed before any flight. Upon arrival, every passenger (along with their hand baggage) will be weighed on-site. Scale readings are kept confidential.
   2. Single-Seat Weight Limit: Robinson R44 helicopters carry a strict single-seat limit of 120 kg (264 lbs) to 125 kg per passenger. Any individual weighing more than 115 kg (254 lbs) on a sharing flight or 120 kg (264 lbs) on a Robinson R44 cannot fly on that aircraft. They must advise staff in advance or upgrade to a larger helicopter type at their own expense.
   3. Exceeded Weight Limits: Should the helicopter(s) be overweight a larger helicopter will need to be utilized at an additional rate. This will be for the client's own account.
      
2. Sharing vs. Private Flights
   1. Sharing Flights: Charged per person. Requires a minimum of 2 passengers to operate. Single passengers will be paired with others. Seating positions and window seats cannot be guaranteed; seats are assigned strictly by staff to balance the aircraft. Couples may sit one seat apart for weight balance.
   2. Private Flights: Set per helicopter for exclusive, private use.
      
3. Age, Mobility & Special Passengers
   1. Infants (Under 2 years old): Must sit on an adult's lap with the seatbelt secured around the adult only. Only one infant is permitted per helicopter. Infants cannot be accommodated on sharing flights and require a private charter. Identification/passport copies are required before the flight to verify age.
   2. Children (2+ years old): By SACAA regulations, children over the age of two must occupy their own paid seat. Minors under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
   3. Passengers with Disabilities: Cannot be scheduled on sharing flights and must book a private charter (specifically utilizing the 6-seater helicopter). An able-bodied assistant must accompany any disabled passenger who cannot assist themselves.
   4. Pregnant Passengers: Anyone 28 weeks or more into their pregnancy must hand over a signed medical certificate from a doctor confirming fitness to fly before departure.
      
4. Conduct
   1. Passenger Conduct & Sobriety: Passengers must obey all lawful commands from the pilot and ground crew at all times. Boarding under the influence of alcohol or drugs is legally prohibited. Smoking is strictly forbidden during any flight. Disruptive behavior or delays will result in immediate removal without a refund, and guests will be held liable for any diversion costs incurred.

Baggage & Dangerous Goods Policy

• Sterile Cabin Policy: Our Helicopter operators practice a "Sterile" cabin policy. All handbags, backpacks, and personal luggage must be placed in the secure, free on-site lockers prior to boarding.
• Carry-On Weight Limit: Approved carry-on items are strictly limited to 3 kg and require prior permission.
• Dangerous Goods Regulations: Strict aviation safety regulations prohibit hazardous materials:
  • Strictly Forbidden: Explosives, fireworks, flammable liquids/gases, lighter fluid, matches, strike-anywhere lighters, toxic substances, corrosives, hoverboards, and all firearms.
  • Permitted in Cabin (On Person): Small electronic devices (laptops, cameras, cell phones) powered by lithium batteries, and unopened alcohol under 70% ABV (max 5 liters). Spare lithium batteries and e-cigarettes must be brought into the cabin (never placed in checked/cargo compartments).

Cancellation / Refund Policy

HELICOPTER FLIGHTS CANCELLATION POLICY
Please be advised that the cancellation fee & refund percentage (%) is applicable to the TOTAL tour/activity price LESS a less 5% transaction fee in the case of online or POS card transactions made for payment. This represents a direct bank processing cost and is not a revenue-generating charge.

Cancellation or changes - Shared Flights:

• 15 days or more prior to tour date = 80% Refund
• 14-4 days prior to tour date = 50% Refund
• 3-0 days prior to tour date, late arrivals or “NO-SHOWS” = 0%/No Refund

Cancellation or changes - Private Flights:

• 30 days or more prior to tour date = 80% Refund
• 29-15 days prior to tour date = 50% Refund
• 14-0 days prior to tour date, late arrivals or “NO-SHOWS” = 0%/No Refund

❗️Late arrivals and/or no-shows for a tour/activity/time slot, regardless of the reason, unfortunately forfeit the full booking. Similar to booking an airline ticket; the plane will not wait for any passenger that is late. Please ensure you are on time for your booking.
❗️All transaction/transfer fees and/or forex conversion costs charged by the banks during the refund process will be billed to you (the client/booking holder)
❗️Refund and credit values are calculated in our local ZAR (South African Rand) currency. Transaction values in your own currency could be affected due to bank fees and currency exchange fluctuations.
