The day will take you through the basics of sand boarding, from learning how to stand up and gain balance to cruising down the dunes at high speeds that will get your adrenaline flowing! Then topping the day off with a high powered guided sand dune Quad Bike experience where you can speed up, down and along the face of the dunes that reaches up to 50 meters!
• This service requires a minimum of 3-4 guests in total to operate. Please check with us if there are already confirmed trips guaranteed to run that you can join.
• Booking kids/Minimum Age (Dunes): Please note the minimum age requirement is 13 years old to ride own quad bike at the Dunes. This is Witzands Nature Reserve and the City of Cape Town Municipality regulations.
Children under 13 years old (6-12 years old) have to be booked as ride-alongs and travel/ride with a quad bike guide/parent. For this we require 1 Adult per 2 Kids (one child can ride with parent and one child can ride with a guide).
The guide reserves the right to change ride-along arrangements in the interests of client safety.

Upon arrival at the Atlantis Sand dunes, just 45 minutes out of Cape Town, you will receive a safety briefing before shown the basics of Sandboarding and then the fun begins . .
Cruising and carving at speed down steep sand dunes! We then break for snacks & refreshments before the quad biking begins . . . if you are happy going slow, that’s fine, but if you are an experienced quad biker and you want something faster and adrenalised, we do that too.

Things to Bring: Comfortable clothes, closed shoes & long socks, warm jacket (dress warm in winter- rain jacket), sunblock, hat.

Inclusions and Exclusions
Inclusions: Transport (if paid for transport option), 45 min to 1 hr quad ride, 1-1½ hrs sandboarding, qualified instructors, all equipement, a snack & a refreshment.
Exclusions: Compulsory entry permit/conservations fee (R275 pp - will be added at checkout), transport (if paid for self drive option), all items of a personal nature, tips.
More Information
If you are booked for the self drive option (excl. transport) kindly ensure that you arrive at the venue 30 minutes before your tour start time. Should you arrive late, your tour may be forfeited and will not be refundable and you will not be able to reschedule.
Please be advised that we have a good amount of boards we rotate and we don’t always take a sandboard per person due to efforts to minimize the effect on the dunes (environmentally) as well as for safety reasons.
Are there any toilet facilities?
Yes there are, but not what most would consider amazing. If possible it is suggested that you make use of toilet facilities before leaving your point of departure or at a petrol station that you pass on your way here.
How long is the tour?
QUAD: The 1 hour tours usually run for around 45-50 mins. This is due to the fact that we need to do a safety briefing before we go out, get you onto your bikes and start them up. This process usually takes 10-15 mins. SANDBOARD: The 2 hour tour usually run for around 1-1½ hours. This is due to the fact that we need to do a safety briefing before we go out, get you onto your bikes and start them up. This process usually takes 15-30 mins.
What happens if you are late?
Please make sure you leave your destination early enough to arrive on time (allow more travel time) and try to account for any possible unforeseen travel delays. If you are late you could end up losing time on your ride (shorter ride) OR you could miss out on your ride COMPLETELY and your booking will be seen as a 'no show' resulting in NO refund. Quad Bike is VERY busy and they will not be able to allow extra time as they have other rides/groups booked.
What kind of bikes will you be riding?
Most are Semi – Automatic Quad Bikes that allow you to drive over every possible dune in the facility with ease, with the only input the driver needs to put in is gas, brakes and steer. We do have a few manual bikes as well.
Are the bikes difficult to ride?
The bikes are very stable and make it easy for even first time riders who usually need only 10 minutes on the Quad Bike to learn how to control it. We cater the course according to the skill of the combined group and drive at the pace that suits the abilities shown by the riders.
Damages
Should you (the client) damage the quad bike by driving into another quad bike or obstruction or ‘roll-it’, you shall be held liable and be required to pay for the damages as determined by the guide on duty before you leave the activity area. Should there be a dispute between the 2 parties, the hirer of the equipment shall nonetheless pay for the damages before leaving the activity area. The owners of the quad bikes will provide invoices for the replacement parts and labour with-in 14 days and provide the hirer a refund if damages claimed is more than then damage sustained.
General/Standard Cancellation Policy
- Cancellation 15 days or more prior to tour date = 100% refund
- less 4% in the case of online or POS card transactions - Cancellation 14-4 days prior to tour date = 50% refund
- less 4% in the case of online or POS card transactions - Cancellation 3-0 days prior to tour date, late arrivals & “no show” = No refund / Full fee charged
