Description
Experience an unforgettable sunset from the sea as you cruise off the coast of Cape Town. The breathtaking backdrop of the Atlantic Ocean stretching out from the iconic Table Mountain range makes this cruise a top choice for both residents and visitors. Raise a glass to the fading light from the deck of one of our superb vessels.
Included with your ticket is a complimentary glass of sparkling wine (two glasses per person, or a bottle for a couple). Additional drinks can be purchased from the onboard bar throughout the journey. Children are very welcome, and we offer a discounted price just for them.
Due to the famously changeable Cape Town weather, the exact sailing route can shift without notice; the two options provided are simply an example of where we might go. Rest assured, regardless of the direction we take from the harbour, you are guaranteed a truly spectacular cruise.
Sunset under sail
Since sailboats rely on the wind, this cruise doesn't follow a fixed route or destination. You will be informed before departure of the expected sailing direction before we depart. During the typical Cape Town summer, the prevailing south-easterly wind guides us. Our journey usually involves motoring out of the harbour, then sailing across Table Bay towards the Milnerton lighthouse. We then return to Granger Bay, nestled on the lee side of Table Mountain, to enjoy the sunset before motoring back to the Waterfront. In the winter months, when the north-westerly wind dominates, we will head in the opposite direction—either toward the beautiful Clifton Coastline or the Robben Island Coastline, also concluding in Granger Bay. Because wind and sea conditions are constantly changing, the exact routing and style of the cruise may be adjusted daily. Rest assured, your experienced skipper and crew will use their expertise to ensure you have the best possible adventure.
Sunset on a motor vessel
Unlike the sailing boats, the motor vessels are not reliant on the wind, allowing them to follow a reliable, set course. The standard route involves slowly cruising along the renowned Atlantic Seaboard toward Clifton Beach. After the sun sets, the vessel returns to the harbour by following the same path.
Important to know
Vessel Availability – The Sunset Champagne Cruise draws upon a pool of vessels.
Possible variation of cruise due weather – For all cruises, if the sea is too rough or the wind is unpleasantly strong, the vessel will not venture into Table Bay. Instead, be a Harbour Lights Cruise within the shelter of Cape Town Harbour. This excellent alternative provides magical evening views of Table Mountain alongside the sparkling lights of the city and the docks. In the event of truly extreme weather, the skipper will carefully evaluate the conditions, and the cruise may even be kept dockside. Please understand that the safety of all passengers is always the most important priority.
Departure Times – Departure times vary according to the season. Please make sure to double check your departure time to ensure you are aboard before we sail.
Stay warm and protected – Even on sunny days, the temperature can drop during the return leg of the cruise. Bring a warm jacket to stay cozy. Don’t forget your hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen to shield yourself from the sun’s rays.
Dress Comfortably – Ensure you wear comfortable shoes—high heels are not recommended for safety on board.
Alternative Vessel Assurance – In the unlikely event that the primary boat for this cruise is unavailable due to unforeseen circumstances, we reserve the right to utilize an alternative vessel for this experience. Be assured that every possible effort will always be made to ensure that the advertised vessel is available. Some Cruises do not have a dedicated boat for the cruise and rely on a pool of available vessels to cover fluctuations in weather, seasonal passenger numbers and planned maintenance.
